Fall is my second favorite time of year!

I’ve always loved fall. Not as much as winter of course but it’s has a very special place in my heart. Growing up in Texas meant that fall was the first break from 100 degree temperatures since the spring. And it was welcome. There’s a certain crispness in the air and a smell that only a fireplace can produce. Yes, before you ask, people do occasionally use a fireplace in Texas. The scratching sound of the brittle leaves as they blow across the sidewalk. A sound which I use for inspiration in my books. I also love the spooky vibes that come with time of year. The witches and magic and skeletons. Everything Halloween.

But now that I don’t live in Texas anymore, the fall is so much better! There’s nothing like the changing colors in the Aspen trees on the side of a mountain. You can tell from far away by the patches of gold where the trees are. In fact, it’s being in the mountains in the fall that helped spark inspiration for the Turn of the Zodiac series. Even though the series starts in the winter, the planning began with the fall and I can’t wait until I reach the actual fall in my series timeline.

I also like to spend my free time up in the mountains near my home and walking through the same forests that my characters do. I love to take my camera with me and work on my hobby photographer skills and there’s no better time than this time of the year. So, with that, I’ll leave you with some of my favorite fall pictures that I’ve taken.
